CragXchange — a global rock-climbing community platform
Full-stack and mobile development of CragXchange: interactive crag map, member profiles, a directory and native iOS and Android apps built with React, React Native, Node.js and PostgreSQL.
The challenge
CragXchange set out to connect climbers worldwide, but a directory alone was not enough. Climbers needed to find crags on a map, keep their own profile up to date and reach the community from a phone as well as from a laptop.
How I approached it
I built the web platform end-to-end with React, Node.js and PostgreSQL: an interactive crag map, registration and profile management, and a member directory. I then extended the same product to iOS and Android with React Native, so one codebase powers both apps.
The result
Climbers can open the app, find a crag, see who is around and share their own routes, while the client keeps a single web platform and a pair of native apps to maintain.
